I've always been captivated by the art of storytelling—how people share their stories and craft immersive worlds. Growing up, books like The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, James Rollins' Sigma Force series, and Amelia Atwater-Rhodes’ Den of Shadows books, particularly Demon in My View and Shattered Mirror, had a profound impact on me. These stories didn’t just entertain; they pulled me into their worlds, making them feel as real as the one around me. I still remember the first time a book utterly consumed me. It was Amelia Atwater-Rhodes’ Demon in My View. I couldn’t put it down. I spent every weekend perched in a tree during late spring and early summer, devouring its pages. That experience was a revelation: books weren’t just for education or preserving history—they could ignite the imagination and bring entire worlds to life. That realization sparked my dive into mainstream fantasy and adventure novels that friends recommended. Reading The Hobbit, for instance, was like stepping into another dimension. The vivid descriptions made it feel less like fiction and more like a historical account of events that had actually unfolded. It was as if J.R.R. Tolkien wasn’t just telling a story; he was recounting the history of Middle-earth. This level of immersion showed me the incredible potential of writing to transport readers. Inspired by these stories, I began exploring the world of writing. It felt like a door to endless possibilities had opened. Though I’ve attempted blogging in the past—covering topics like travel and niche subjects—I often felt like an amateur. I’m not an expert in any single field but have a deep curiosity about the many facets of the world and everything it contains. This insatiable curiosity has led me to consume information from a wide array of sources: books across genres, online videos, blogs, news articles, podcasts, radio dramas, and more. If there’s a way to learn or be entertained, I’ll explore it. I imagine many of you reading this also draw from diverse sources of information. While fictional characters often seem to rely on just one method of acquiring knowledge, in real life, we have access to an overwhelming variety. For example, in 2012, I was fascinated by cob and earthbag construction. Most of the available resources were in Spanish, a language I neither speak nor read fluently. Undeterred, I spent an entire weekend translating PDFs into English using online tools. What struck me was how much I learned from those translations. Today, the internet is flooded with videos and tutorials on the subject, but I still cherish the experience of piecing together that knowledge through reading. The sheer volume of content available today can feel overwhelming. There are countless writers, publishers, and online bookstores—an ever-expanding universe of stories and ideas. Knowing I’ll never have enough time to read everything doesn’t deter me. Instead, it inspires me to add my own voice to the mix, just as I’m doing now. Writing and storytelling are more than hobbies; they’re acts of expression and connection. They remind us of our shared humanity, our unique perspectives, and our boundless imaginations. Whether you’re a reader, a writer, or someone who dabbles in both, there’s something magical about creating and sharing stories. Here’s to embracing that magic and exploring all the worlds it offers.
